== Organization ==
The 606th Special Forces Squadron (formerly 606th Air Commando Squadron) was an Air Commando Squadron of the United States Air Force. They flew C-123 Provider aircraft over the Ho Chi Minh trail at night during the Vietnam War to interdict the movement of people and equipment on the trail. After marking their targets, they called in fighter planes with illuminating flares to circle around the targets. Their main area of operations was the Kingdom of Laos. They were inactivated on 30 June 1971.〔Anthony, pp. 81 - 89.〕 The 606th Special Forces Squadron was composed of two sections, the C-123 Provider section which was under the call sign of "Candlestick", and the U-10 Helio Courier section which was under the call signs of "Loudmouth" and "Litterbugs" (and "Clown" for Civil Action missions). T-28D-5s, call sign "Zorro" also flew with the 606th SOS. After being credited with 67 truck strikes during the week of 2 - 9 November 1966, a detachment of A-26 Invaders was attached to the 606th. During 1967, this detachment plus the "Zorro" FACs were spun off into the 609th Special Operations Squadron.〔Anthony, p. 99.〕
